Ruhle Residence/Springfield Township, PA
R.J. Doerr Company was contracted to construct a conservatory addition to an existing landmark residence. The conservatory addition was highlighted by an 8' x 28' venting skylight. The 4 sets of French doors open onto an elevated terrace surfaced with Pennsylvania bluestone and bordered by low walls of native limestone topped with bluestone cap stone. Limestone walls were pointed in a traditional Pennsylvania German raised ridge joint style.

Ruhle Gardens
The original conservancy project was expanded to include the construction of a garden space adjoining the conservancy. The gardens focal point is the gazebo, constructed of western red, and spanish cedar. The garden features low stone walls of native limestone, as well as tall stone privacy walls of limestone topped with cedar shingle wall caps. Custom gates and hand forged hardware are also prominent features of the garden.

Strasser Residence/Pattenburg, New Jersey
The new owners of this long neglected c.1780 vernacular late Georgian/early Federal era frame farmhouse hired R.J. Doerr, to completely restore the interior and exterior, as well as enlarge the existing house. The restoration was as extensive as one can be. The home was skinned on the exterior, revealing extensive framing deterioration under the weight of mud and log packed exterior walls. Later deteriorated Victorian era trim details were removed to return the house to an architectural form that is more consistent with its' original time period. The houses intact architectural feature were retained and restored, while missing details were faithfully replicated. Chimney rebuilding and relining, mechanical upgrades, extensive finishes, and the utilization of architectural salvage are just some of the many tasks performed on the structure. While the houses' two original porches had long been removed, with no known archival or physical evidence, the replacements were based upon period appropriate regional examples.

Fritchman Residence/Springfield Township, PA
This project consisted of a kitchen and sunroom addition to an 18th century, federal era stone farmhouse. Significant structural steel components were integrated into the rear of the existing stone and frame portions to support access into the new construction. Oak timber trusses were incorporated into a conventionally framed addition. Period appropriate mouldings. plank floors, slate and standing seam metal roofing, cedar clapboard, radiant floor heat and full mechanical upgrades are a portion of the scope of work.

Snidtker Residence/Lower Mount Bethel Township, PA
The challenge to this project was to design and construct a compatible addition that contained all the desired interior functions in a confined site. The addition to the existing c.1830 Federal Style brick farmhouse included a master bedroom and a bathroom suite, as well as a family room and powder room. Period appropriate mouldings and millwork components, plank floors, cedar clapboard siding, and fine exterior joinery are some of the noteworthy elements of this project. The additions configuration creates a private courtyard/patio, as well as capitalizes on the sites views of surrounding farmland.
